uTrack have moved into a new and exciting chapter, when it was announced that Bregal Milestone, a leading European private equity firm have announced that they have recently acquired two leading public transport software companies, Sweden-based Ridango, and our very own Ireland-based uTrack Software Solutions.

It marks a historic moment in the story of uTrack, which began with humble origins. Co-founders Eamonn Hughes and Conor Gildea first met at Trinity College Dublin, where they discovered a shared ambition to use software-based solutions to transform public transport. uTrack was founded in 2011 by Eamonn and Conor, both based in Dublin at the time. Their vision was to create a public transport data platform with real-time analysis and a predictive engine to power a suite of services. Starting out with small operators in Ireland, they soon expanded their reach to the USA and then to the UK.

uTrack then worked with major British companies, National Express Coach, First Bus, Go Ahead Group, and recently Stagecoach UK, as well as in the USA, First Student, and a range of other iconic brands. uTrack systems now support an incredible almost 3 billion passengers, and over 5 million App users, 150,000+ drivers and a staggering 73,000 vehicles worldwide.

Ridango and our future

Today, uTrack have evolved a comprehensive suite of SaaS products, namely Origin, Unity, and Rygo. These unique products have enabled operational excellence across numerous public transport companies, creating a transformative experience for passengers across the globe, in addition to providing nimble, mobile tools for a predominantly remote, frontline workforce.

The combined expertise of Ridango and uTrack will accelerate future innovation with real-time connectivity, data-driven insights, and route optimisation, creating greater efficiency and improving the experience for both customers and operators.

Eamonn Hughes and Conor Gildea, the co-founders of uTrack stated:

“Joining forces with Ridango is an exciting milestone for uTrack. From day one, our mission has been to enhance the passenger and operator experience through technology. Partnering with Ridango allows us to accelerate that mission and scale our impact across Europe and North America, while continuing to innovate with a shared vision for smarter, more sustainable transit.”
